Just a quick reminder: HMAb: The Fundraiser is taking place on February 5th at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased in the right-hand column of this blog. Naomi Harris, Daniel Ehrenworth and Brett Gundlock will be speaking about their latest projects. And 40 photographers have donated work to a silent print auction. All money raised from the sale of their prints will go directly to Heather. You can join the Facebook event page here. If you’re curious to know why we’re raising funds for Heather, please refer to “Some Good News and Some Bad News“.
The love for Mark Zibert on HMAb goes both ways and I’m pleased to tell you that he has donated a fantastic print for next weekend’s auction. BTW, if you haven’t got tickets yet, while this post goes to press we’ve only got about 30 left. There will be some at the door but you may want to save yourself the disappointment and buy ‘em now. Here’s Mark’s donation:
And a selection of Mark’s favourite jobs:
Lisa Kannakko asked Mark a few questions about his work:
When did you first start using a camera (at what age)?
Probably 12 or 13 years old.
How did you break into shooting? Who was your mentor or the person you learned the most from?
I assisted various photographers but dove into shooting for myself before I was “ready”. Learned as I went….
What is your favourite thing to shoot?
It changes everyday…but I guess I’m known for sports.
How much personal work do you shoot? Any current projects you want to talk about?
Not so much personal work these days. Almost every job I do is offshore, so when I’m not shooting I’d rather spend time hanging with my wife and kids.
My next projects include shooting Usain Bolt and Cedella Marley for Puma then I’m off to Germany to shoot an Adidas commercial with Bayern Munich.
What do you see yourself shooting 40 years from now?
In 40 years I hope to be teaching and shooting the odd job for fun….
