HMAb calls foul on Photoshop Disasters

by Heather on October 1, 2009

Entitled Bell Internet: Porn for Vampires, Photoshop Disasters has got it wrong. These necks were not extended.

But it does beg the question, should we have done post work to make something real look more real?

Props to Scott for the tip.

I say yes. Not to make it look more real per sey but to make it look it’s best. That image looks terrible regardless of real or not.

this was an image you were involved in producing?

Yes I was involved in this- the image looks awful in this case because whoever sent it to PsD has just grabbed a crappy snap of it from an outdoor board I think (you can see the hands of the camera man reflected in the girl’s hair). Believe me, in the original, the skin tones of those long, long necks are beautiful.

I almost fell of my chair when I saw this. Forwarded it to the team yesterday. Any press is good press right?

For what it’s worth, PsD is often wrong, calling something the result of poor Photoshop work when in fact it’s not.

Should have guessed it was just the reproduction. When your designing it if it looks then no need to fix anything. Not sure anyone would have caught that it needed changed anyway.

So the woman on the right naturally has notches in her neck and the one on the left had an Adam’s Apple? Come on. You say this is just a bad picture – so show us the real one.

Myles October 5, 2009 at 1:08 pm

You’re right notatallconvinced. Women do not have Adam’s apples. They also are missing a rib and are not allowed to partake in the triple jump because their uterus will fall out. Crazy, I know.

notatallconvinced October 9, 2009 at 6:14 pm

Way to totally miss the point, Myles. Show me a woman with a VISIBLE Adam’s Apple and 999,999 times out of 1,000,000 “she” is a actually a transvestite. It has nothing to do with that 1 less rib nonsense – it is actual science, since women tend to have higher voices and smaller voice boxes. Our uteruses will not fall out, but I am reasonably certain that real, unretouched women don’t have NOTCHES CUT FROM THEIR NECKS – at least not living women. I notice the “real” photo still has not been produced, so I remain unconvinced.

What I find hi-lar-ious about this conspiracy theory (or whatever it is) is the question- why would we shoot something that needed such heavy retouching (to lengthen the necks)? Why wouldn’t we just shoot two women kissing his cheek rather than get them to not kiss his cheek and leave it to photoshop to fix that oversight? Oh, that’s right, we DID shoot them kissing his cheek.

And, if I’ve understood you notatallconvinced, why would we cast a transvestite? I think I’ve missed your point on that one.

And, the real photo is, of course, not mine to produce. And, I’m sure (because I was at the shoot and know that this photo and those necks ARE REAL), that providing the raw file won’t convince you because you will still remain notatallconvinced about that one too (because it looks the SAME AS THIS ONE). That’s just how conspiracy theorists work.
