When great images and great design collide.
What can I say? Picked up the July issue of GQ yesterday (which gets my vote for funniest if not most disturbing cover of the year) and was once again totally impressed by their comedy issue packaging (no pun intended for those who saw the opening photos of Brüno). My favourite photo though is by Chris Buck; A subtlety lit portrait of ‘dick joke’ pioneer, Harold Ramis. Chris’ exploding cigar shot paired with the excellent headline design on the adjacent page make for extremely happy bedfellows. Chris’ attention to detail also never fails to make me smile – note the slightly smoldering piece of paper on his shoulder. Not to under play the “Ka Pow” like nostalgia of the Hed design either as it suits the image and story wonderfully.
